After years of yo-yo dieting, trying extreme low calorie and low carb diets, and being super unhealthy, I finally decided to join a gym and hire a personal trainer. My original goal when I joined the gym was one thing; I just wanted to be skinny. Nothing else mattered. I had no desire to be strong and I had to desire to have muscles. Being skinny was literally the only thing that mattered to me. However, through this process, I was introduced to strength training and eventually powerlifting. This once super weak young woman who hadn’t done any exercise outside of long hours of cardio (and couldn’t even do a single push up) discovered a new confidence and inner strength. I fell in love with strength training. More importantly, I changed my focus and my goals. I stopped focusing on being skinny and I fell in love with the process. I found a new appreciation for my body and for all I was capable of. And guess what happened along the way? I totally transformed my body!
After years of struggling with my own diet and weight, I want to show you that fat loss and weight management doesn’t have to be cumbersome and restrictive. You don’t need to spend hours in the gym, and you don’t need to ban any foods from your diet. You can create a sustainable lifestyle that you genuinely enjoy. Lastly, I want you to know that you can and should love your body in every stage, regardless of your body fat percentage…no shame…no guilt…just self-acceptance. Focus on all the amazing things your body can do instead of focusing on your imperfections. You are imperfectly perfect!
If I had to describe myself to you, I would say that I’m a lover of heavy lifting, all things food, traveling with my hubby, and enjoying an occasional glass of wine.
